29 CFR 1910.335(a)(1)(i): Employees working in areas where there were potential electrical hazards were not provided with electrical protective equipment that was appropriate for the specific parts of the body that needed to be protected and for the work being performed: (a) Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse, 250 Daniels Way, Burlington Twsp., NJ: On or about 5/14/2015, an employee of Griffin Electric Maintenance was injured by an arc flash while working in an energized 480 volt distribution panel. The employer had not provided appropriate protective clothing (i.e. rated hard hat, face shield, FR rated long sleeve shirt and pants) for the work being performed. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

The employer had not ensured that insulated tools or handling equipment were used when contact with energized conductors or parts was possible. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
