29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Eye and face protective equipment were not used when machines or operations presented potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents:  a)  Cartoons Construction LLC at 16717 - 16727 Compass Way, Broomfield, CO 80023:  On or before July 18, 2015, the employer did not ensure that employees were using safety glasses when using pneumatic nail guns to frame these houses.  Condition exposed employees to the potential for eye injuries from projectiles to the eyes.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems, nor were employees provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501(b):  (a)Cartoons Construction LLC at 16717 - 16727 Compass Way, Broomfield, CO 80023:  On and before July 18th, 2015, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from falling in the following instances:  (1)The main floor included a wall opening for the back deck, over a walkout basement, measuring 9' wide, and no guardrails were in place;   (2)The second floor included several window wall openings that had 24" window sills, and were missing the top guardrails; and  (3)The second floor included a landing over the stairs that was 72" wide, and no guardrails were in place.   The conditions exposed employees to fall hazards of up to approximately 12 feet.

29 CFR 1926.1052(c)(1)(ii): Stairways having four or more risers or rising more than 30 inches, whichever is less, were not equipped with a stairrail system along each unprotected side or edge:  (a)Cartoons Construction LLC at 16717 - 16727 Compass Way, Broomfield, CO 80023:  On and before July 18th, 2015, the employer did not ensure that the stairs from the main floor to the second floor included stair rails along each unprotected edge.  The condition exposed employees to fall hazards of 10 feet.  Abatement note:  Stairways that are closed on both sides (with studs 16" on-center), still require at least one handrail, according to 1926.1052(c)(1)(i).

29 CFR 1926.416(e)(1): Worn or frayed electric cords or cables were used:  (a)Cartoons Construction LLC at 16717 - 16727 Compass Way, Broomfield, CO 80023:  On and before July 18th, 2015, the employer allowed the use of a frayed extension cord for use in powering portable 120 volt tools.  The condition exposed employees to electrical shock hazards.
