RipMaster III located on the processing deck did not have adequate guarding to keep employees from accessing the danger zone created by the carriage movement, chain drive for the Board Buster, and the point of operation and ingoing nip points created by the Board Buster.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point of operation guards were not designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of their body in the danger zone during the operating cycle:  On or about 7/6/15, an Eagle Machinery & Supply, Inc. RipMaster III Board Buster located on the processing deck was utilized with a disabled interlock and broken hinge on the trim saw and drive wheel barrier guard allowing employees to access the point of operation and ingoing nip-points.

29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling:    (a)  A metallic outlet box (handy box) located on the processing deck by the planer was not installed in accordance with the UL identifier QCIT which states the boxes shall be mounted in or on a surface.  The handy box was attached to a flexible cord and was used as an extension cord to sharpen the blades on the planer.      (b)  Two metallic outlet boxes (handy boxes) located near the Woodeye Scanner were not installed in accordance with the UL identifier QCIT which states the boxes shall be mounted in or on a surface.  The handy boxes were attached to flexible cords and used as extension cords.
