The two part spray foam used by employees can cause respiratory irritation and illness and contained hazardous chemicals, such as, but no limited to methylene bisphenyl isocyanate (MDI) and polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (PAPI).

Job site: One Webster Avenue, Hanover, NH - On or about December 22, 2015, the employer did not have a change schedule for the cartridges on the air purifying respirator worn by the employee during activities involving spray foam insulation application clean-up (scraping) inside a containment. The employee wore a full face air-purifying respirator with organic vapor cartridges, and was exposed to respiratory hazards including, but not limited to, methylene bisphenyl isocyanate (MDI). Note: The employer may provide an air-purifying respirator provided the respirator is equipped with end-of-service-life indicators or a change schedule has been developed. Otherwise, the employer must provide an atmosphere-supplying respirator.
