29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:     On or about February 10, 2016, and at times prior thereto, employees were allowed to operate machines that were found not having guards provided, including but not limited to the following instances:     1) In the tool & die area, an engine lathe machine was being operated without a chuck guard provided to protect operator from exposure to the chuck while in operation.     2) At the trash compactor area, a trash compactor being was operated without having an interlock device or a dead-man switch provided to prevent employees from entering into the trash compactor while in operation.    Employees were exposed to amputation and crushing hazards.
