29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1):     Open-sided floors and/or platforms four feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded with standard railings (or equivalent)     At the West Boiler room of the Real Bacon processing plant the employer is failing to protect the employees from a fall hazard of approximately 15 feet. Employees are approaching the edge of the roof above and adjacent West boiler room in order to perform maintenance and cleaning activities. Employees approach the edge of the roof to retrieve equipment such as but not limited to shop vacuum(s) that are elevated to the roof with the use of a forklift.

29 CFR 1910.24(b):     Fixed stairs were not provided for access from one structure level to another where operations necessitated regular travel between levels, and for access to operating platforms at any equipment which requires attention routinely during operations:    At the West boiler room of the Real Bacon processing plant the employer is failing to protect the employees from a fall hazard of approximately 15 feet in that employees are accessing and egressing the roof of the building via a fixed ladder on a frequent and regular basis.

1910.27(f)     All fixed ladders will be maintained in a safe condition.  All fixed ladders will be inspected on a regular basis.         At the West Boiler room of the Real Bacon processing plant the employer is failing to protect the employees from a fall hazard of approximately 15 feet in that Employees are using the fixed ladder 3 to 4 times a week in order to access the roof to perform cleaning and maintenance activities.  The fixed ladder is not being inspected on a regular basis.

29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1):   On every building or other structure, or part thereof, used for mercantile, business, industrial or storage purposes, the loads approved by the building official were not marked on plates of approved design and securely affixed in a conspicuous place in each space to which they relate.  In the Waste Water treatment plant of the facility the employer is failing to ensure that the mezzanine storage area is marked with its capacity in accordance with this subpart.
