Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a. On or about February 27, 2017, at the site located at 6015 Bluestone Way, Lewis Center, Ohio, employees were painting exterior trim on a new two story residential multiple unit condominium building from the lower level roof with a pitch of approximately 4 in 12 and approximately 9 feet in height without fall protection, thereby exposing employees to a fall hazard.
