29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.     On or about March 16, 2017, the employer did not ensure the operator of a Eurodraw wire drawing machine, known as ED#3, was protected by machine guarding at the soap box door opening while observing the rotating block (capstan) and rotating wire puller device.  The operator was looking through the unguarded soap box door opening to observe the wire material as it was wound onto the block by the machine with the wire puller device.       SOLON SPECIALTY WIRE CO., WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD OR ITS EQUIVALENT STANDARD, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 616340, CITATION NUMBER 01, ITEM NUMBER 002 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON OR ABOUT 11/26/2012, WITH RESPECT TO A WORK PLACE LOCATED AT 30000 SOLON ROAD, SOLON, OHIO.
