1910.178(l):  This standard is applicable to construction employment as defined by 29 CFR 1926.602(d).  Operators were not trained in the safe operation of powered industrial trucks:     The employer is failing to train employees on how to operate the powered industrial trucks and recognize the struck by or caught under hazards associated with their operation.  This most recently occurred on June 26, 2017 on the jobsite located at 1210 N 101st St, Lincoln, NE 68527.  The employer has inadequately trained employees operating and maintaining the forklift during residential home framing operations.  Instances of inadequate training include but are not limited to:  i. Employees operating powered industrial trucks without having received instruction on the safe handling operations as outlined in the operators manual and confirmed with a written test.  ii. Employees operating powered industrial trucks without having received practical training (demonstrations by the trainer) and practical exercises (performed by the trainee) on the safe handling operations as outlined in the operators manual.  iii. Employees operating powered industrial trucks without having been evaluated on their performance in the workplace.
