29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit routes must be free and unobstructed. No materials or equipment may be placed, either permanently or temporarily, within the exit route. The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level. a) On or about July 25, 2017 in Building 1103 at 1103 Grossman Avenue in Schofield, employees were working on the south side of the building with blocked exit routes. The middle, north/south aisles were blocked with product. b) On or about July 25, 2017 in Building 1103 at 1103 Grossman Avenue in Schofield, employees were working in the building with an obstructed exit route at exit Door C. Stacked product containers and wooden pallets obstructed the path to a width of 18.5 in.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4): If the direction of travel to the exit or exit discharge is not immediately apparent, signs must be posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit and exit discharge. Additionally, the line-of-sight to an exit sign must clearly be visible at all times. a) On July 25, 2017 in Building 1103 at 1103 Grossman Avenue in Schofield, the employer did not post any exit signs to mark a path of travel to emergency exit discharge doors A, B, and C for work areas at the southern exterior wall. b) On July 25, 2017 in Building 1103 at 1103 Grossman Avenue in Schofield, the employer had an exit sign at the emergency Discharge Door B with arrows directing employees away from the door.
