29 CFR 1926.652(b): The slopes and configurations of sloping and benching systems were not in accordance with the requirement options of 29 CFR 1926.652(b)(1), (b)(2), (b)(3), or (b)(4):    a) For the excavation on Bruce B. Downs near Wharton High School as observed on or about 08/17/2017, the south end of the excavation was measured to have a slope of 44 - 52 degrees. The soil was type C, and cave-in protection was not being used at the south end of the excavation. Employees were observed working in the excavation laying pipe and were exposed to cave-in hazards from the unprotected south end of the excavation.
