29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): A body belt shall be worn and a lanyard attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift.    Note to paragraph (b)(2)(v): As of January 1, 1998, subpart M of this part (1926.502(d)) provides that body belts are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system. The use of a body belt in a tethering system or in a restraint system is acceptable and is regulated under 1926.502(e).    On November 9, 2017 located on the east side of a commercial exterior structure, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while working inside a JLG Articulating Boom Lift basket Model 600S without being attached to the boom or basket. Potential fall height was measured to be 10 feet.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.    Located on the east side of a low pitch commercial roof, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while standing at the edge of the roof spraying stucco onto a commercial exterior structure not utilizing a fall protection system.  Potential fall height measured to be 13-3.
