29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8)(i): 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8)(i): For a repair pit, service pit, or assembly pit that was less than 10 feet (3 m) deep, the employer did not limit access to within 6 feet (1.8m) of the edge of the pit to authorized employees trained in accordance with 1910.30:  a) RV Maintenance Bay 7: On or about January 11, 2018 and at times prior thereto; a repair pit that was 5 feet deep and within the walking path of employees on the SE side of the maintenance area was not marked to prevent a fall or trip hazard. Employees were not instructed on the avoidance or recognition of the hazard.   b) RV Maintenance Bay 8: On or about January 11, 2018 and at times prior thereto; a repair pit that was 5 feet deep and within the walking path of employees on the SE side of the maintenance area was not marked to prevent a fall or trip hazard. Employees were not instructed on the avoidance or recognition of the hazard.   c) RV Maintenance Bay 8: On or about January 11, 2018 and at times prior thereto; a repair pit that was 5 feet deep and within the walking path of employees on the NE side of the maintenance area was not marked to prevent a fall or trip hazard. 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8)(ii): For repair pits, service pits, or assembly pits, the employer did not apply floor markings at least 6 feet (1.8 m) from the edge of the pit in colors that contrast with the surrounding area; or place a warning line at least 6 feet (1.8 m) from the edge of the pit as well as stanchions that are capable of resisting, without tipping over, a force of at least 16 pounds (71 N) applied horizontally against the stanchion at a height of 30 inches (76 cm); or place a combination of floor markings and warning lines at least 6 feet (1.8 m) from the edge of the pit. When two or more pits in a common area are not more than 15 feet (4.5m) apart, the employer did not comply by placing contrasting floor markings at least 6 feet (1.8 m) from the pit edge around the entire area of the pits.  a) RV Maintenance Bay 7: On or about January 11, 2018 and at times prior thereto; the employer did not properly warn employees of a fall or trip hazard by marking the hazard area; a repair pit that was 5 feet deep and within the walking path of employees on the SE side of the maintenance area and less than 15 feet from Bay 8 repair pit was not marked to prevent a fall or trip hazard.   b) RV Maintenance Bay 8: On or about January 11, 2018 and at times prior thereto; the employer did not properly warn employees of a fall or trip hazard by marking the hazard area; a repair pit that was 5 feet deep and within the walking path of employees on the SE side of the maintenance area and less than 15 feet from Bay 7 repair pit was not marked to prevent a fall or trip hazard.
