Such programs would support the employer and employees in identifying and avoiding potential hazards such as falls during job site operations, decreasing the probability of employee injury and/or illness.

29 CFR 1926.501(a)(2): The employer did not determine if the walking/working surfaces on which its employees were to work on, had the strength and structure integrity to support employees safely:    a) On January 18, 2018 at the address of 13917 Road 2, Pandora, OH: The employer did not ensure the area of the roof where four employees were working, had the requisite strength and structural integrity to support the weight of the employees.  An employee was fatally injured from a fall when a 2x4 purlin broke after being stepped on.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest system:  a) On January 18, 2018 at the address of 13917 Road 2, Pandora, OH: the employer did not assure employees were protected for fall hazards while removing sheet metal roofing material from a pole barn with a 4/12 pitch roof.  The employees were exposed to a 26 foot fall to the ground below.
