29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: (a) CDM Signs at 589 S. Hover St. Longmont, CO 80501: On or before February 14, 2018 the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from injury, in that employees installing a new sign onto the front exterior wall of a commercial building were not utilizing a fall protection system. Employees stood on and worked from a low-sloped metal awning. This condition exposed employees to a fall hazard of approximately 12 feet.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: (a) CDM Signs at 589 S. Hover St. Longmont, CO 80501: On or before February 14, 2018 the employer did not protect employees from injury, in that the portable ladder that was being used to access the metal awning in front of the commercial building extended approximately 1.5 feet above the landing. This condition exposed employees to a fall hazard of approximately 12 feet.
