29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. Shop - On or about March 20, 2018, employees performing engine coolant flushes were exposed to burns from high temperature extremes (hot engine coolant) in the event the coolant contacted the employees hands/bodies because the gloves worn did not protect the employees from high temperatures. In accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.

29 CFR 1904.39(a)(2): The employer did not report the in-patient hospitalization of one or more employees to OSHA within twenty-four (24) hours. a. On or about March 20, 2018, an employee was hospitalized due to being sprayed by engine coolant of a high temperature sustaining 2nd degree burns to parts of the body while performing an engine coolant flush and the employer did not report the hospitalization to OSHA within 24 hours. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
