29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b): (a) Jobsite: On or about May 9, 2018, 5 employees were doing roofing work (removing asphalt shingles) and 2 employees were tied off wearing only safety belts and 3 employees were not tied off at all. The fall hazard to the 5 employees ranged from about 10 to 26 feet. The pitch of the roof was 9 in 12.

29 CFR 1926.503(c)(3): 29 CFR 1926.503(c)(3): When inadequacies in an affected employee's knowledge or use of fall protection systems or equipment indicate that the employee has not retained the requisite understanding or skill, the employer shall retrain the affected employee: (a) Jobsite: On or about May 9, 2018, four employees were working from a roof and two of them were using rock climbing seat harnesses for fall protection and two employees were not using any fall protection. All of these employees need to be retrained in the proper use of fall protection.
