29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or were likely to be present, which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment:  An employee engaged in oil drilling activities was exposed to dermal and respiratory hazards in that the employer did not assess the workplace for hazards which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).  1) Dermal exposure to lead based Bestolife Mr. B's pipe dope  2) Dermal and respiratory exposures to Monarch Type 1 Portland cement

29 CFR 1910.157(d)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not selected based on the classes of anticipated workplace fires and on the size and degree of hazard that would affect their use:  Employees engaged in drilling operations at Rig #1, located at Sec 8, Twp 24, Row 22, Bronson, KS were exposed to fire hazards in that the number of portable fire extinguishers was not adequate for the type of workplace.  There was only one fully charged ABC portable fire extinguisher available at the worksite.      NOTE: API RECOMMENDED PRACTICE 54; 7.2.4 Drilling rigs shall have readily accessible, in good operating condition, not less than four(4) 20-pound capacity fire extinguishers with a Class BC rating.
