Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501(b):  A) 29 Grandview Ave, Edison, NJ 08837, Employee(s) working on a residential roof installing shingles were not wearing fall protection, and were exposed to a fall from elevation of approximately 20 feet.   Condition(s) observed on as about 08/07/2018.

29 CFR 1926.100(a): At this job site, employees exposed to possible head injury from falling or flying objects or from impact with hand tools, equipment and building materials during construction operations were not wearing hard hats.   A) Ground employee(s) working beneath shingle installation work by other employees on the roof at 29 Grandview Ave., Edison, NJ 08837; did not wear a hard hat as protection from struck-by hazard of tools and/or debris dropped from above.   Condition(s) observed on or about 08/07/2018  JBG General Construction was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 996605, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 11/06/2014, with respect to a workplace located at 323 Highland Ave., Palisades Park, NJ 07650.  JBG General Construction was also previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 949413, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 3/4/2014, with respect to a workplace located at Berlin Cross Keys Road in Williamstown NJ  08094.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): The side rails of portable ladders used for access did not extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface, or was secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect and along with a grasping devise to assist employees mounting and dismounting the ladder.   A) Employee(s) installing shingles atop the lower level roof of a single-family house at 29 Grandview Ave., Edison, NJ 08837, used an extension ladder used for roof access / egress.  The ladder side rails did not extend at least 3ft above the landing for grasping while stepping off/on the top rung; exposing employee(s) to fall hazard of 10 ft.  Condition(s) observed on or about 08/07/2018  JBG General Construction was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 949413, Citation number 1, Item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on 03/04/2014, with respect to a workplace located at Barkley Glenn Apartments at Berlin Crosskeys Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094.
