OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: Precision Tune Auto Care, Macon, GA-On or about December 19, 2018 and times prior to, in the automotive repair maintenance bay, employees operated six automotive lifts: Bay 1: Hunter 7,000Lb In-Ground Single Post Lift - Model: D-Rack - Serial #: 70-1634 Bay 2: Ben Pearson 12,000Lb 4 post lift - Model:LMT12 - Serial #:26316 Bay 3: Ben Pearson 22,000lb 4 post lift - Model:LMT22 - Serial #: 35671 Bay 4: Lazarus Auto Warehouse 11,000Lb 2 post lift - Model:TP11KAC-D - Serial#: 47779-14 Bay 5: Ben Pearson 9,000lb 2 post lift - Model:LMP9 - Serial #: 41174 Bay 6: Ben Pearson 9,000lb 2 Post lift - Model:LMP9 - Serial #: 41175 The lifts were modified and damaged to elevate vehicles; the employer also failed to inspect the automotive lift and document them per manufacturer's recommendations; and employees had not been trained and documented. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct these hazards would be to comply with the safety requirements for the operation, maintenance and inspection of automotive lifts outlined in the ANDI approved Automotive Lift Institute standard ALOIM-2008, Section 4.2.1 Operator Training, Section 5.1 Periodic Inspections, Section 6.1 Maintenance and Section 7 Modifications.

Also, under the stairs, an electrical outlet used to supply power to the power strip did not have a cover. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
