The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. On and about April 30, 2019, employees were exposed to hazards associated with fires when the emergency egress doors in the store room were blocked by piles of merchandise and egress routes through the storage room were not kept clear.

Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse. On and about April 30, 2019, employees were exposed to struck by hazards caused by falling boxes that were not stacked in a way that would prevent them from falling onto employees.

When normally enclosed live parts are exposed for inspection or servicing, the working space, if in a passageway or general open space, shall be suitably guarded. On and about April 30, 2019, employees were exposed to shock and fire hazards when the electrical panels in the storage room were blocked by pallets of material and piles of merchandise, preventing immediate access to the panels to shut off power in an emergency.
