The employee was not wearing a respirator during welding operations.

29 CFR 1915.1000(a)(2):  An employee's exposure to any substance in Table Z-Shipyards, the exposure limit of which is not preceded by a "C," shall not exceed the 8-hour Time Weighted Average given for that substance in any 8-hour work shift of a 40-hour work week:    a)  In the Stern Line, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 16.01 mg/m3.  This level is 1.6 times the permissible exposure limit of 10 mg/m3 as a time weighted average concentration.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 427 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    b)  In the Stern Line, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to zinc oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 6.5 mg/m3.  This level is 1.3 times the permissible exposure limit of 5 mg/m3 as a time weighted average concentration.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 427 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    c)  In the Mid-Body Section Assembly Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to copper fume at a time weighted average exposure of 0.17 mg/m3.  This level is 1.7 times the permissible exposure limit of 0.10 mg/m3 as a time weighted average concentration.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 427 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    d)  In the Mid-Body Section Assembly Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 11.9 mg/m3.  This level is 1.19 times the permissible exposure limit of 10 mg/m3 as a time weighted average concentration.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 440 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.

29 CFR 1915.1000(d)(2)(i): Employee exposures to a mixture of substances which are listed in the Z table shall not be in excess of the cumulative exposure limit:    a)  In the Mid-Body Section Assembly Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume and copper oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 11.9 mg/m3 and 0.17 mg/m3, respectively.  The equivalent exposure for the mixture is 2.89 times the cumulative exposure limit.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 440 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    b)  In the Stern Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume and zinc oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 16.01 mg/m3 and 6.5 mg/m3, respectively.  The equivalent exposure for the mixture is 2.90 times the cumulative exposure limit.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 427 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    c)  In the Mid-Body Section Assembly Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume, copper oxide fume and zinc oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 5.5 mg/m3, 0.02 mg/m3, and 1.9 mg/m3 respectively.  The equivalent exposure for the mixture is 1.13 times the cumulative exposure limit.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 441 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.    d)  In the Panel Area, on or about June 18, 2019 - An employee designated as a welder was exposed to iron oxide fume, copper oxide fume and zinc oxide fume at a time weighted average exposure of 4.03 mg/m3, 0.04 mg/m3, and 2.54 mg/m3 respectively.  The equivalent exposure for the mixture is 1.31 times the cumulative exposure limit.  Sampling was performed by an OSHA compliance officer on June 18, 2019 for 423 minutes and zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled portion of the shift.

29 CFR 1910.107(c)(6): Electrical wiring and equipment not subject to deposits of combustible residues but located in a spraying area as herein defined were not explosion-proof type approved for Class I, group D locations and did not otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part, for Class I, Division 1, Hazardous Locations:  a)  In the Spray Booth Area, on or about June 6, 2019 - The electrical wiring on the control box for the timer located on the Spray Booth did not conform to the Hazardous Locations subpart as there was exposed wiring on the box.
