29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b): (a) On or about December 18, 2019, the employer did not ensure that its employees were protected from falls while working at heights greater than 6 feet. Employees of JNB Roofing, LLC were exposed to fall hazards of up to 10 feet while engaged in residential roofing activities with no fall protection systems in place. 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access: (a) On or about December 18, 2019, the employer did not ensure that portable ladders, used to access upper landing surfaces, extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access. Roofers were observed descending a ladder from the roof. Ladder did not extend at least 3 ft above the top plate and was not tied to the structure exposing workers to fall hazards of up to 10 feet. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
