29 CFR 1926.403(b)(1)(iii): Examination. The employer shall ensure that electrical equipment is free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Safety of equipment shall be determined on the basis of the following considerations: Electrical insulation. At a worksite located at 27203 Oakhaven Drive, Lake Lotawana, MO, employees engaged in residential framing work were exposed to electric shock and burn hazards when the employer did not ensure that electrical equipment was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Safety of equipment was not determined on the basis of electrical insulation on the following pieces of equipment: 1. One Milwaukee reciprocating saw. Damaged at the mid way part of cord and near the base of the tool, electrical insulation missing. 2. One Skilsaw circular saw. Damaged at the mid way part of the cord, electrical insulation missing.
