OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees such as crushing injuries from falling slabs of stone.    a. Traditional Marble and Granite LLC located in Milan, OH:  On or about January 7, 2020 employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by falling slabs of stone weighing up to 2,700 pounds when operating the North Bohl crane located in the production area of the facility.  The following deficiencies were present with the single girder top running crane:            1. The crane's slab clamp used to lift slabs of stone was not marked as to its lifting capacity;        2. Annual crane inspections were not being conducted;        3. Monthly crane inspections were not being conducted;        4. The hoist drum brake was not holding heavy loads;    b. Traditional Marble and Granite LLC located in Milan, OH:  On or about January 7, 2020 employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by falling slabs of stone weighing up to 2,700 pounds when operating the South Bohl crane located in the production area of the facility.  The following deficiencies were present with the single girder top running crane:        1. Annual inspections were not being conducted;        2. Monthly inspections were not being conducted;        3. The crane hook's safety latch was not functioning properly and would not completely close the throat of the hook.    Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines in ASME B30.17-2015 Cranes and Monorails (With Underhung Trolley or Bridge), ASME B30.20-2018 Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices, and ASME B30.10-2019 Hooks, ASME B30.16-2017 Overhead Underhung and Stationary Hoists,  by ensuring cranes are properly inspected, hook latches are functioning properly, hoist brakes are functional, and lifting devices are properly marked.
