Employees conducting framing work were exposed to struck-by hazards, fall hazards, and electrical contact hazards while conducting framing work on a new construction two-story single-family house.

Framers were installing lumber while using a pneumatic nail gun and a circular saw to cut the pieces. The employees were not utilizing eye protection, which exposed them to struck-by hazards to the eyes.

Equipment found damaged or defective shall not be used until repaired. a) Reynas Framing Company, at a jobsite located at Lot 13422, 156 Auburn Drive, Newark, OH 43055: On and preceding March 12, 2020, the employer did not ensure employees who used extension cords were protected from electrical contact hazards by inspecting the cords before each days use. Framers were using three extension cords with the ground prong missing from each of the male ends of the cords, an extension cord with damage to the outer jacket along its length, and the strain relief pulled away from the cord on two plugs, which exposed the employees to a 125 volt electrical contact hazard.

Framers were using an extension cord with the strain relief section of the plug pulled away from the jacket of the cord and a circular saw with the strain relief section of the plug pulled away from the jacket of the cord, which exposed the employees to a 125 volt electrical contact hazard.

Exception: When the employer can demonstrate that it is infeasible or creates a greater hazard to use these systems, the employer shall develop and implement a fall protection plan which meets the requirements of paragraph (k) of 1926.502. a) Reynas Framing Company, at a jobsite located at Lot 13422, 156 Auburn Drive, Newark, OH 43055: On and preceding March 12, 2020, the employer did not ensure that employees engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet or more above lower level were protected from falls. Framers were installing floor joists and floor sheathing to the second story 10 feet 4 inches above the ground below. The employees were not utilizing any form of fall protection, which exposed them to falls up to 10 feet 4 inches. b) Reynas Framing Company, at a jobsite located at Lot 13422, 156 Auburn Drive, Newark, OH 43055: On and preceding March 12, 2020, the employer did not ensure that employees engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet or more above lower level were protected from falls. Framers were working on the first and second floors adjacent to an unguarded floor opening to the basement. The employees were not utilizing any form of fall protection, which exposed them to falls up to 18 feet.
