29 CFR 1915.14(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that hot work is not performed in or on any of the following confined and enclosed spaces and other dangerous atmospheres, boundaries of spaces or pipelines until the work area has been tested and certified by a Marine Chemist or a U.S. Coast Guard authorized person as "Safe for Hot Work": GTS Admiral W.M. Callaghan, Pier 2, Alameda Point: On or about 8/29/20, three employees performed stud welding (hot work) on fuel tank 2, port and starboard, PO#1713210, without a certified hot work permit. Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards.
