29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: a) At 9921 Bethany Dr., Alison Point Apartments Bldg. 9796, Foley, Alabama: On or about January 8, 2021 and at times prior; the employer allowed his employees to use an extension ladder to gain access to the roof and the rails of the ladder did not extend at least three feet above the roof landing to provide safe access exposing his employees to fall hazards of 17 feet 5 inches to the ground below. b) At 9921 Bethany Dr., Alison Point Apartments Bldg. 9883, Foley, Alabama: On or about January 8, 2021 and at times prior; the employer allowed his employees to use two extension ladders to gain access to the roof and the rails of the ladder did not extend at least three feet above the roof landing to provide safe access exposing his employees to fall hazards of up to 9 feet 8 inches to the ground below. c) At 9921 Bethany Dr., Alison Point Apartments Bldg. 9883, Foley, Alabama: On or about January 8, 2021 and at times prior; the employer allowed his employees to use two extension ladders to gain access to the roof and the rails of the ladder did not extend at least three feet above the roof landing to provide safe access exposing his employees to fall hazards of up to 7 feet 7 inches to the ground below.
