On or about May 5, 2021 at the board edger machine, the accumulation of sawdust, pieces of wood, and empty yellow plastic buckets placed along the walking-working surface created trips and fall hazards.

29 CFR 1910.265(c)(18)(i): Pulley(s), sprocket(s), sheave(s), drum(s) and block(s) of conveyor(s) were not arranged to prevent the possibility of injury due to hands or parts of clothing being caught between the belt(s) and pulley(s) or chain(s) and sprockets in accordance with American National Standard B20.1-1957, which is incorporated by reference as specified in �1910.6:    Employees were exposed to caught-in hazards on conveyors not constructed in accordance with American National Standard B20.1-1957,  paragraph 602.   a) On or about May 5, 2021, at the Edmiston's hydraulic sawmill workstation, employees were exposed to unguarded conveyor belt, chain, and sprockets on the conveyor that transported lumber from the main-circular-saw to the edger machine.  b) On or about May 5, 2021, at the Corley board-edger workstation, employees were exposed to unguarded belts and pulleys of the conveyor that transported lumber from the edger machine to the receiving area.

29 CFR  1910.265(e)(5)(ii)(a):  Top(s) and opening(s) in end and side frame(s) of edger(s) were not adequately guarded, and gears and chains were not fully housed:  (a)  On or about April 1, 2021 on the board edger machine, the sides of the edger by the rotating saw blades was not adequately guarded to prevent someone from crawling underneath the edger blades.  Employees were exposed to being struck by the rotating saw blade.  (b)   On the board edger machine, the rotating saw blades were not adequately guarded to prevent employees from making contact with the saw blades in that the guard was able to be raised without an interlock or special tools.  Employees were exposed to being struck by the rotating saw blade.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure:  On or about May 5, 2021, employees operating the Corley board edger machine were exposed to fire and electric shock hazards from flexible cords used to provide power to equipment such as, but not limited to:  (a)  120 volt light bulb placed underneath the board edger.   (b)  Lasko Max Performance electric fans above the board edger.
