29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  Main Manufacturing Area: On or about July 1, 2021 a Haas Milling Center, model VF-2YT, serial 1118863, was missing guarding on the chip auger. The auger was noted to operate while the Haas Milling Center doors were open.

29 CFR  1910.215(a)(2):Abrasive wheel(s) used on grinding machinery were not provided with safety guard(s) which covered the spindle end, nut, flange projections:  On or about July 1, 2021, there were three instances, including two surface grinders and one bench grinder, in which the spindle end, nut, or flange projection were not adequately guarded.   a) Wet Grinding Room: The Central Machinery six inch bench grinder, serial # 56413-1841, was found missing guarding on the left side grinding wheel.   b) Manual Machine Area: An Okamoto surface grinder, model 6-12/14 Linear, Burteck # B0056, was found to have a guard with the surface area cut out around the spindle and approximately 180 degrees of the wheel exposed.   c) Manual Machine Area: An Okamoto surface grinder, model 6-18 Linear, Burteck # B0054, was found to have a guard that did not cover the spindle end.
