29 CFR 1910.28(b)(4)(i): 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(4)(i): The employer did not ensure that each employee on a dockboard is protected from falling 4 feet (1.2 m) or more to a lower level by a guardrail system or handrails. On or about 31 Aug 2021, at the Wastewater Treatment Plan, Ritz-Carlton, Saint Thomas, VI. Employees engaged in wastewater treatment operations had been accessing a dockboard platform with missing railing on three sides where the entrance and surroundings to the Sedimentation Tank is located. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.

Emergency eye wash and emergency shower were not operational in the immediate area when employees used and/or handled corrosive products such as high content chlorine sanitizer chemical during wastewater treatment operation. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
