29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Pines Golf Course, Fort Eustis: On or about 10-20-21 and times prior thereto, employee(s) were exposed to an amputation hazard while attempting to clear a jam from the rotating reel of a Reelmaster 3100-D tee mower (serial number 03200-240000335), which had a disabled seat safety switch. Abatement certification required within 15 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1960.8(a):29 CFR 1960.8(a): The Agency head did not furnish employment and a place of employment to each employee that were free from recognized hazards that caused or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm: a) Pines Golf Course, Fort Eustis: On or about 10/25/2021 and times prior thereto, the employer did not provide mechanically safe lawn care equipment to be operated by lawn care workers during the course of their activities. Such equipment includes, but is not limited to: 2 tee mowers (#3100-D), and 1 fairway unit. Abatement certification required within 15 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
