29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11):"Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) On December 14, 2021, located on a commercial roof, employees were exposed to a fall hazard installing sheathing onto a steep pitch roof not utilizing any fall protection system. Potential fall height was measured at 14'-6"' with a roof pitch of 6 in 12.

29 CFR 1926.502(a)(2):Employers shall provide and install all fall protection systems required by this subpart for an employee, and shall comply with all other pertinent requirements of this subpart before that employee begins the work that necessitates the fall protection. (A) Guardrail systems; (B) Safety net systems; or (C) Personal fall protection systems, such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint, or positioning systems. (a) On December 14, 2021, located on a commercial roof, employees were exposed to a fall hazard installing sheathing onto a steep pitch roof in that the employer failed to install a fall protection system before the employee performed the sheathing work. Potential fall height was measured at 14'-6"' with a roof pitch of 6 in 12.
