OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from fire hazards when  performing servicing to bulk propane tanks:  (a)Long's Propane Service, Inc. dba Long's Propane Service: On or about and at times prior to February 8, 2022, the employer did not ensure  employees were protected from fire and explosion hazards when servicing bulk propane tanks, in that servicing that would likely release propane was being performed in the shop where ignition sources were not removed or controlled. This condition exposed employees to fire and explosion hazards.  Among other methods, recognized and feasible means of abatement for this hazard include complying with the Operations & Maintenance Handbook for LP-Gas Bulk Storage Facilities:  Open Flames & Other Ignition Sources - Continuous Control  Open flames and other ignition sources (such as non-explosion proof electrical equipment and vehicles) must be controlled on an on-going basis for general fire prevention purposes. Specific control measures that must be implemented include: - Prohibiting open flames and all other sources of ignition in pump houses, cylinder filling rooms and other locations where the presence of LP-Gas vapors is likely.
