29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. On or about May 11, 2022, and times prior thereto, employees were exposed to machine guarding hazards: a) Approximately five employees were operating two unguarded Hobart Machines to produce slime and create content for social media outlets, exposing the employees to the hazard of being caught-in the agitator. b) Approximately two employees were operating the Estela Machine with the guard in the raised position, to produce clay, slime and create content for social media. The interlock system that detects the guard was by-passed, exposing employees to being caught-in the rotating agitator.
