29 CFR  1926.102(a)(2):The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses eye protection that provides side protection when there is a hazard from flying objects. Detachable side protectors (e.g. clip-on or slide-on side shields) meeting the pertinent requirements of this section are acceptable.  (a) 307 Ocean Avenue, Ocean NJ: employees were exposed to falling objects while working on scaffolding completing masonry work not wearing PPE such as safety glasses to protect them from flying debris while working with rotary saw, chisels, bricks and mortar.  Condition observed on or about 05/31/2022.  NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR  1926.451(b)(1):Each platform on all working levels of scaffolds shall be fully planked or decked between the front uprights and the guardrail supports:  (a) 307 Ocean Avenue, Ocean NJ: Two workers were exposed to fall hazards, up to and in excess of 20 feet to the ground surface below, when walking and working on a scaffolding at the residential structure's second and third floor without proper planking to ensure a stable footing and working surface. Condition observed on or about 05/31/2022.  (b) 307 Ocean Avenue, Ocean NJ: Two workers were exposed to fall hazards, up to and in excess of 10 feet to the ground surface below, when walking and working on a scaffolding at the residential structure's ground level without proper planking to ensure a stable footing and working surface. Condition observed on or about 05/31/2022.
