29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe condition(s) and the regulation(s) applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazard(s) or other exposure to illness or injury: (a)	On or before July 19, 2022, the employer did not provide training to employees regarding hazards associated with using a Makita cordless circular saw. An employee sustained a finger amputation while cutting the end of a 2-foot by 4-foot wood board. The employee held the board with one hand while he placed the board on the edge of a plastic trash can. He operated the saw with his other hand. A kickback occurred which resulted in a partial finger amputation. The instruction manual for the Makita 6.5-inch Circular Saw states to "never hold piece being cut in your hands or across your leg. Secure the workpiece to a stable platform. It is important to support the work properly to minimize body exposure, blade binding, or loss of control." This condition exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards.
