OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck-by and laceration hazards associated with contacting the grinding surface of a Craftsman bench grinder: a) On or about February 16, 2023, the employer failed to ensure that employees were operating a Craftsman bench grinder in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Safety guards had been removed from the grinding wheel and disc. An employee suffered lacerations after coming in contact with an unguarded grinding disc while reaching to turn the off the grinder. b) On or about February 16 2023, the employer failed to ensure that employees were operating a Craftsman bench grinder in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The grinding wheel and disc in use on the grinder were not rated, therefore were not in compliance with ANSI B7.1.
