29 CFR  1910.23(b)(8):29 CFR 1910.23(b)(8): The employer did not ensure that ladders are used only for the purposes for which they were designed.  In the back room of the store, employee(s) engaged in retail work activities were exposed to fall hazards in that the Werner 8-foot A frame ladder was being used as a straight ladder which is not in accordance with the manufacturers intended purpose for use. The Werner 8-foot A frame ladder was leaned up against a ply-wood wall and against a metal soda box rack in order to reach items stored on a overhead shelf approximately 8 feet in height.
