29 CFR  1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels and 50-feet (15.25 m) wide or less, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety nets.  On or about May 9, 2023 an employee conducting roof repairs on a low slope roof was not utilizing any type of fall protection, exposing them to falls of approximately 8.5 feet to the ground below.  The employee was patching holes in the roof with tar on a 3.5/12 sloped roof.  Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR  1926.503(a)(1):The employer shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to fall hazards. The program shall enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and shall train each employee in the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards.  On or about May 9, 2023, the employer failed to provide training to the maintenance staff in the recognition and mitigation of fall hazards prior to allowing them conducting work on the roof of the facility.  The employee was working on the low slope roof of the facility patching holes with tar.    Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(d).
