29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Reference: ANSI Z358.1 Emergency Eyewash and Shower Standard 5.4.4 The eyewash unit shall be located on the same level as the hazard and the path of travel shall be free of obstructions that may inhibit the immediate use of the equipment. Buildings 1561/1563/1565/1567/1569: On and/or before May 11, 2023, employees used corrosive chemicals such as Clorox Bleach, Waxie Knock-Out, and Laundry Spotter during cleaning operations where an emergency eye wash station in close proximity for flushing of the eyes was blocked by multiple plastic containers stored in the sink with eye wash station. The employer had not kept the station free of blockage which potentially exposed employees to severe eye burns or blindness.
