Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. Side rails extended 1 foot above the roof edge.   b) On or about June 1, 2023, at N9568 US Highway 45 in Bear Creek, Wisconsin, employees were exposed to a potential fall from elevation hazard while using an extension ladder to access/egress a roof 11.5 feet above ground level without the side rails extended at least 3 feet above the roof edge. Side rails extended 2.5 feet above the roof edge.
