29 CFR 1910.106(g)(8): The employer did not ensure that conspicuous and legible signs prohibiting smoking were posted within sight of the employee being served: a. On or about 12th January 2024 at the fuel dispensing pier, St. Croix Marine Center, St. Croix, VI. In an area where the fuel dispensing units are located and used, it was observed that "no-smoking" signs were not posted. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item since it was submitted prior to citation issuance. Please disregard the abatement date.

29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: a. On or about 12th January 2024, at the fuel dispensing area and piers, St. Croix Marina, St. Croix, VI. Employees were exposed to fire hazards while performing fuel dispensing and maintenance operations on a working area where fire extinguishers were not located in case of an event of a sudden fire. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
