Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards in case of hook failure.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

29 CFR 1910.184(d): Sling(s) and fastenings were not inspected each day or during use and were not removed from service when damaged or defective:   a) On or about 02/20/2024, at 30 Simonds Street, Lockport, NY; Chain slings used to lift steel plates with the 5-TON Detroit crane were damaged and not taken out of service. Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards when using a double-leg chain sling to hoist steel plates with hooks missing safety latches.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
