29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): a) Superior Wholesale Distributors, on or about February 27, 2024, at the address of 435 N. Main St. Lima, OH; The employer failed to protect employees where corrosive battery acids were present. Employees who were required to routinely charge and add distilled water to the lead acid battery cells of the powered industrial trucks without the benefit of corrosive rated PPE were exposed to chemical burns.

Main St. Lima, OH; The employer failed to provide flushing facilities in locations where corrosives were present. Employees who were required to routinely charge and add distilled water to the lead acid batteries of the powered industrial trucks were exposed to chemical burns.
