29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six or more feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems or personal fall arrest systems.   a) On or about March 12, 2024, at a worksite located at 237 2nd Street NW Washington, DC, employees involved in commercial framing activities were seen working on the roof without fall protection, risking a 30-foot fall to ground level.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet). In addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.

29 CFR  1926.503(b)(1): The employer did not verify compliance with paragraph (a) of this section by preparing a written (training) certification record including the name or other identity of the employee trained, the date(s) of the training, and the signature of the person who conducted the training or the signature of the employer.  a) On or about March 12, 2024, at a worksite located at 237 2nd Street NW Washington, the employer had not certified the fall protection training for employees exposed to fall hazards 6 feet or greater while performing roofing work.    In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet). In addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. 29 CFR  1926.1052(c)(1)(ii): Stairways having four or more risers or rising more than 30 inches (76 cm), whichever is less, were not equipped with a stair rail system along each unprotected side or edge:  a)  On or about March 12, 2024, at a worksite located at 237 2nd Street NW Washington, DC, employees were using the stairs equipped without railing to access the upper floors, exposing them to an estimated 10-foot fall to the lower floors.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification.  This documentation may include but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
