29 CFR  1926.652(e)(2)(i): Excavation of material to a level no greater than 2 feet (.61m) below the bottom of the members of the support system was allowed when there were indications while the trench was open of a possible loss of soil from behind or below the bottom of the support system:   On or about May 6, 2024, at an excavation site, an employee was performing trench work activities at the bottom of a trench with a protective system that was positioned more than two (2) feet above the trench floor.
