29 CFR  1926.601(b)(14):All vehicles in use were not checked at the beginning of each shift to assure that the following parts, equipment, and accessories were in safe operating condition and free of apparent damage which could cause failure while in use: service brakes, including trailer brake connections; parking system (hand brake); emergency stopping system (brakes); tires; horn; steering mechanism; coupling devices; seat belts; operating controls; and safety devices:  a) Worksite was located at 102 2nd Avenue, Belmar, NJ 07719:  The JLG Sky Trak 8042 Telehandler being used by a subcontractor to perform work on site had its right front tire worn beyond limits with visible threads showing. The operator did not perform a pre-use inspection on the machine before running it.  Violation was observed on or about May 2, 2024.  NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
