OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees such as struck by/crushing injuries from falling slabs of stone. a) 135 Hartman Rd. North Wales, PA 19454 - On or about July 24, 2024, employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by falling slabs of stone when operating the McDal crane located in the production area of the facility; lifting devices such Aardwolf Slab Lifter Model 60 were not marked with manufacturer's information and the rated maximum load. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines in ASME B30-20 (2021) for Below-the-Hook lifting devices. ASME B30.20.6 identifies the requirements for marking of clamps. a) Rated Load. b) Identification.

North Wales, PA 19454 - On or about July 24, 2024, employees were exposed to the hazard of being injured by falling slabs of stone when operating the McDal crane located in the production area of the facility; the clamp was operated in a horizontal manner while still attached to the slab. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines in ASME B30-20 (2021) for Below-the-Hook lifting devices. ASME B30.20.6 states the clamp shall not be used for side pulls or sliding the load unless specifically authorized by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
