29 CFR 1910.134(e)(1): The employer did not provide a medical evaluation to determine the employee's ability to use a respirator before the employee was fit tested or required to use the respirator in the workplace: On or about July 26, 2024, Grupo Medrano, located at 14916 Hwy 177 in Jackson, Missouri did not provide a medical evaluation to employees working at the sandblasting area that required them to wear a tight-fitting, on-demand half/full face respirator. Wearing an on-demand respirator such as a half or full-face respirator will require the body to exert effort to breathe and those with occult medical conditions may aggravate or precipitate a medical emergency.

29 CFR 1910.134(f)(1): The employer did not ensure that employee(s) required to use a tight-fitting facepiece respirator passed the appropriate qualitative fit test (QLFT) or quantitative fit test (QNFT): On or about July 26, 2024, Grupo Medrano, located at 14916 Hwy 177 in Jackson, Missouri did not provide the appropriate fit test for users of tight-fitting facepiece respirators to employees working at the Sandblasting Area that required them to wear respirators. Improperly fitted respirators will cause air leaks that may expose employees to toxic vapor, fumes, and other airborne particles.

29 CFR 1910.134(h)(1): Respirators were not cleaned and disinfected using the procedures in Appendix B-2 of 29 CFR 1910.134 or equivalent procedures recommended by the respirator manufacturer. On or about July 26, 2024, Grupo Medrano, located at 14916 Hwy 177 in Jackson, Missouri did not provide a respiratory training to include proper cleaning, disinfecting, storing, inspecting, repairing, discarding, and otherwise maintaining respirators to employees working at the sandblasting area that required them to wear a tight-fitting, on-demand half/full face respirator. improper cleaning, disinfecting, storage and maintenance of respirator may result to gross contamination, unsanitary and unhealthful use of said respirator that may is unhealthy to the user resulting to additional respiratory ailment.
